3 May 2009 - District Sports 2009

The Godalming and District Primary School Association athletics events will take place on the following days this year:

Medium Sized Schools (Busbridge, St Barts, Shottermill, Godalming, Loseley Fields, Cranleigh) - July 2nd 2009
Small Schools (Beacon Hill, St James, St Mary's, St Edmund's, St Cuthbert Mayne) - July 3rd 2009
Large Schools (Tillingbourne, Park Mead, Chandler) - July 14th 2009 - this event will also include the winners of the previous two events - a new initiative to help make this event more competitive. If a winner cannot make this date, the runner up will be invited.

They will all be held at the athletics track, Charterhouse School, Godalming from 1:30pm to 4pm. The track is 400m and there is a jumping pit. There is plenty of parking around the site.

All three competitions will include the same events and I have consulted with the organisers of previous events, other district associations, the Surrey competition manager and the English Schools Athletics Association to come up with a set of events which emphasise the traditional and formal nature of these important events while remaining within the recommendations for distances / ages.

All the following events run separately for boys and girls:

 Year 3 Sprint 60m
 Year 4 Sprint 60m

Equipment - normal running shoes / trainers - No spikes allowed.
Competitors: for each of the field events and relays - one entry per school. For the sprint and long distance, two entries per school.
The only restriction which applies to how many events a child can compete in is a logistical one - children cannot compete in both the throwing and the jumping as these events take place at the same time.
Hopefully this is enough information to inform your training and preparation. I shall be organising the medium sized event and, if they are still happy to, Tillingbourne will manage the large and St Edmund's the small. We can liaise nearer the time re scorecards, equipment, timings, prizes etc.
